The Mirage

Remember the toilet at the Mirage? The one that would tease you before falling shut, like a bear trap for penises?

See it here! (use Internet Explorer)

Sedona, Arizona

We spent a day in Sedona shopping and taking a trolley tour. The trolley took us around Sedona and to The Chapel of the Holy Cross

For me the best part of the day was the Pink Jeep tour. We took the Broken Arrow tour.

You get in this pink jeep and then go off roading into the Arizona desert. It is GREAT!

Now the next series of pics are from our other jeep. We had just run through the same path. Bear in mind that the incline we are descending in at 42 degrees! Yes that's right, like half of 90 degrees! very very steep!!! I was in the back seat, facing front, I was basically hanging down from the seatbelt.

This is where you hang on!

Trip to Williams AZ

We took a train from the Grand Canyon to Williams, Arizona. From there we were going to take a bus to Sedona.

Champagne on train

On the train trip, we had a singing cowboy and then all of the sudden, bandits appeared outside our cabins!

They must've done something to the conductor because the train slowed and they boarded!
We were being robbed!
We're Being Robbed!!!

I didn't have any jewelry or money so I told him Jeanne had all the cash! :-)
"She has it all!"

After QUITE a while, the sherrif appears and arrests the miscreants...

The Arrest

The March of Shame

Interesting Incidents
We're standing beside the train before boarding and we notice something strange going on. Do you know what's going on?

That's right! That guy in the white shirt just couldn't wait unitl the train started moving. He really really had to pee! (look under the train to the right of the steps)

So Jeanne and I are sitting there after our hike having lunch in the lodge lobby. All of the sudden we hear this loud, wailing screech that makes everyone in the lodge stop what they are doing and stare at the front door. Immediately after this inhumal sounds, we hear a kid start just screaming at the top of his lungs. He walks in with his dad. Apparently, he wasn't paying attention and his finger got stuck in the door when it closed.

15 minutes later the kid is STILL screaming & crying. I mean, he's not a baby, he needs to grow a set. THey actually called the paramedics for him. Of course, just my luck, the family decided to sit right in front of me. We had the pleaseant opportunity to finish out lunch to the melodic screams of a child...yay...

Of course I took a pic of him...

The Indian Romeo

Jeanne & I are browsing around the gift shop at the Bright Angel Lodge (we stayed at the El Tovar hotel) and I notice this guy acting suspiciously. He's wandering around and checking out the cashier. He approaches the cashier and mumbles something that neither of us understands. He wanders ar ound a bit, still checking her out. He picks up some Twizzlers and pays for them. He doesn't leave, he continues to wander.

Then he approaches the cashier again,

Indian Guy: mumble mumble mumble French
Cashier: "Yes, I'm from France"
Indian Guy: "mumble mumble you know beatrice mumble"
Cashier: "No"

This went on for a bit as I pretend to be fascinated by cheap keychains. As I kept overhearing the conversation I hear the guy, out of nowhere, say to the cashier, "You're like a flower. I can see that you are ready to bloom." He was trying to pick her up!!! What a line!

Then he says, "I'm just trying to build a foundation." He asks if she likes rap music and before she can answer, HE STARTS TO RAP HIS ORIGINAL SONG TO HER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORE!!

She says that she has to talk to her supervisor and she runs to the storeroom. He continues to wander.

Jeanne & I go to pay for our stuff. I talk to her and find out she's from France, here for onlya couple of months. She's actually more fluent in French & Spanish than English, so we talk about the Indian Romeoe. She couldn't believe he was rapping to her. She told me she doesn't even like rap music.

As we are talking, I see that the Indian Romeo has now moved on to the other worker who was stocking shelves and IS RAPPING TO HER!!!

He left after a few minutes with no luck...

Indian Romeo (the girl isn't smiling)

Trip To Grand Canyon

Here are a few select shots of the Grand Canyon portion of our trip:

Jeanne & I hiked under the Canyon rim using the Bright Angel Trail. The way down is easy. The way up is long & tiring. You're basically climing out of the biggest hole in the planet!

Lithographs

So I ended up buying more lithographs and no posters.

Moral of the story?
Being poor still sucks.

Temptation

I fell prey to temptation. This is sin city afetr all.

After dinner we went back to the store and no I didn't buy the Todd Goldman lithographs I wanted. I bought the THREE lithographs that appealed to me.

I did manage to get the lady to come down 20% in price but it was still a pretty penny. What the hell, that's why I won so much anyways!!!

No originals for me

Ok, after much thought I decided not to get a Todd Goldman original. It would've actually ended up as free since I would be using only a portion of my winnings. However, I'm not sure I want the long term financial committment involved in taking care of the lithograph.

Remember that Florida is a very moist environment. Additionally, since I only have a 1/1, my choices for lithograph placement are limited! I think the moisture will eventually ruin the item. I'll buy two or three cheaper, MUCH cheaper posters.

What's the lesson of this story?
Being poor sucks.
