New TV Show
New Showtime Show
I was watching Showtime and there is a new show that titled, "Invaders From Beyond". The teaser was very interesting and the show seemed to be about aliens & paranormal stuff, like the X-files, however, I was struck by the title.
Invaders From Beyond
I guess it's meant to inspire fear into the viewers. Instead it actually inspired puzzlement. Invaders From Beyond. I think that's redundant. Aren't ALL invaders from beyond, by definition? Invaders, presuposes direction right? The word 'in' is already in invaders.
I mean, They are over there, and They want to come over here. It just so happens that We don't want them here! We would rather they stay there, where They are now. Which to Them, is here, but to us, is there. So in effect, from Their point of view, They are already here, but They think that here is better. That, or they don't realize that they are already here. Unfortunately for Them, We are here (their there). We really don't want to give up our here so They have to leave their here (our there) to get here (their there).
Mind you, there are many there's. Our here is not the only there there is. Apparently the series thinks that our here is much more appealing that other there's, or here's, depending on your viewpoint. We put a lot of work into our here, it may have its problems but we do have a vested interest in it. You can't just pick up and leave here to go there, you know, unless it's for the express purpose of invading. Because, after you successfully invade, you have more here to say, "Here I am!". Your 'Sphere of Here' has been expanded.
Now if we were interested in their here and not our here, and they, in turn, were interested in our here not their here, there wouldn't be a problem. We would all just coordinate the here/there exchange and as we pass each other by on the road to there, or the road to here, say something cordial-like,
We: "Hi! I'll call you when I get here! We left here a while back and we know you will like it!"
They: "Great! There's a big basket of pastries right here, next to that, so you can enjoy your new place!"
You see? That would be great! No invasions, no bloodshed. Just a simple exchange of here & there. Of course, that wouldn't make a great series would it?
